Case Study MEPA

MEPA is an important metal working company in the area of behind-the-wall installation (toilet tanks etc. and in the area of feet for showers and bathtubs).

The initial situation was the change of the cardboard box for the packaging of toilet tanks with the dimensions 1200 x 140 x
510 mm.

The task:
The packaging was to be optimized in such a way that erecting and filling can be carried out quickly at the workstation without losing sight of the element of space, which plays a very decisive role. No simple task in consideration of length and width ratio.

The result:

For the existing box, Peters has developed an interlocking bottom on one side whose inside insertion tabs are load bearing, thus supporting the weight of the edges during a stacking of 10 boxes (single weight approx. 25 kg).

In this way the required space is minimized during preassembly and the process of erecting is notably faster. In addition, this design makes the use of adhesive tape unnecessary, which has saved both time and money. The employees are enthused about the simplification of the packaging process, it is simpler and faster than before, and the space gained through this can be used more efficiently.

Meanwhile, another cardboard box has already been changed in the same way. Additional ones will follow.

Well thought-out changes to the packaging optimized many processes. Peters and MEPA are satisfied with the collaboration.
